Join Me!

In developing the U.S.-Korea Network in which I will be participating, leaders from both countries hoped to create a program that could strengthen relations through fostering cultural understanding between youth. We are the next generation, and as the world becomes more accessible, we can reach around the world, uniting as we prepare for our futures, together. As I see it, the best way to do this is by acknowledging the unique while reinforcing similarities to bridge the distances between us.
Here is a little background on where I'll be going. South Korea is a nation that has experienced considerable growth in a relatively short period of time. It is an intriguing nation, one that has had to develop the diplomacy to exist within the confines of a politically divided peninsula while maintaining its identity, a tribute to the efforts of its people. Understanding the Korean adage, "When whales fight, the back of the shrimp gets crushed," makes Korea's success appear even more incredible in the face of challenges to its growth from tensions between the surrounding powerful countries. The accomplishments of the country, however, are the combined work of the country's people, who work together to achieve success and to further and maintain their culture. And it is these people who form the identity of South Korea.
I can't wait to share my experiences with you!
